A LIGHT HEARTED VIEW OF A PILOT IN EVE ONLINE
Where did you get that hat?

Good morning Evesters

Firstly sorry I’ve not been around much this weekend been out playing with the band that I play in Mandolin Monday. So last week I asked for help with fitting out my Brutix and I’m pleased to say I got a LOT of help both on Facebook and Reddit. I’m hoping what I’ve learned will help people out GENERALLY with fitting.

Special mention to Andreas Baird on Facebook who has been helping me on a couple of Threads. 🙂

For the whole Facebook thread please click here (new window) and Reddit click here. I also discovered thanks to another Reddit user this forum: https://www.reddit.com/r/fittings.

This is one except from Andreas that I found particularly helpful.

Hi-slots:
I see you went for 200mm rails. Perfectly good choice, but 250mm rails will give you more range and damage at the cost of tracking and fitting requirements. If you’re going rails you should be trying to sit back a bit so that should be useful. You shouldn’t feel bad if you can’t/don’t fit them though.

I had played around with a dual-rep, dual-web blaster fit for you that should be an absolute hoot and a real dps monster but it probably required better skills than you have and would be more suited to a cruiser than a BC (too slow to get into range)

That utility high (the one you can’t fit a turret to) has a couple options. A nosferatu steals cap from enemies in pve 100% of the time, and is useful on a brawler, but might be out of range too often on a rail ship. A drone link controller will let you target enemies with drones from further away if you find you need to. Lastly, a tractor beam will let you Hoover up loot cans faster, which might appeal to the hoarder in you.

For the mids you need your prop mod. If you have the cap for it it might be worth trying an MWD – it makes you easier to hit but battlecruisers are already easy to hit. If you’re at
range you can just turn the thing off to save cap. Again, the afterburner is perfectly good too.

The remaining mid slots can be used for cap mods (a large battery if it can fit, if not cap rechargers/a cap injector) and then a way to improve your chances of hitting. Either a web(s) or a tracking computer. You can script the computer mid-battle to suit your needs. Out of range? Use a range script. Too close to hit? Use a tracking script.

The lows need a good mix of damage and tank mods. One armour repper to start you off and then at least two resist mods. Try and match the mods to the rats you’re fighting to get the most bang for your buck. In terms of damage mods you will get the most dps from mag field stabs, but if you find yourself waiting for your drones to kill the things you can’t hit you might do better with 1xdrone damage amp, 2xmag field stab.

For the rigs a good start would be to use capacitor control circuits (if you can free up a mid-slot using a rig that’s a great tradeoff) or tanking rigs (nano pumps or resistance rigs) just to make yourself burlier.

With drones hobs are great. Larger drones are slightly better against larger targets but that’s what your rails are for. The BNI is not a drone boat so 90% of the time wants to use small drones to kill the frigs your guns will have trouble hitting.

So here’s the fit I’m running with at the moment. Screenshot 2016-05-16 07.12.26

Although the DPS is not that high at only 385 I’m running with hit points of 124683, I’m training up at the moment to put better blasters on but I have increased my range.

I did take her out last night to fight a few rats and one pirate who did a runner! with great success. So I’ll let you know how I get on over the next few busy days! Also to note that Eve online had over 40000 pilots in last evening. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to last long because I was exhausted. I left my drones somewhere in space so I’m now going to bookmark (CTRL B) places I’ve been to so that if I forget the drones I can go back and get them.

Annoyingly, one of the rats scratched the paintwork on the Brutix. I will be filing an official complaint.

You’ll notice most of my stuff is Tech II so I’m pleased with that – I have a lot of training going on at the moment so I’m seeing how far I can go once that’s done.

I’m working on an update to the resource database as well… watch this space.

Something I’ve had on my iPad is this Neocom app. It’s REALLY great for testing out different ship fits. Well worth a download.

Fly Safe

Dan

Now some more postcards from my travels
