So I read an article on the Eve website (yes I read most of them!), about running EVE Online on the MAC under WINE. As you know or don’t know, EVE is a native WINDOWS application so running under the MAC or LINUX Platforms requires WINE (windows emulation) or CEDAR (also windows emulation).
So here’s how to switch the mac version over from WINE to CEDAR.
- Open the Launcher
- Press Command , you should see a PREFERENCES window – you can get it as well by clicking on “EVE ONLINE” at the top left on the menu and PREFERENCES
- Select Wrapper as WINE and COPY SETTINGS FROM CEDAR TO WINE
- Click Save
- Hit Play and Wine will be installed
The first time I did this the launcher crashed but after that it was fine. (fine with wine)!
At first when I logged in EVE had reset the graphics settings (I run in a Window during the day) and when it first got to the screen it drew the UI and went green before actually displaying the ship. So don’t panic if that happens, just wait it will sort itself out.
On another topic, I’m moving to NULL SEC at the moment. I sold all my stuff and have popped a space bag over my shoulder and I’m going to get there any time soon and then get hitched up with my Corp End of Life for some PVP and other things.
I’m back flying Armageddons again while I train up my ship skills, thanks to the 10000 a day skill points its taking me less time. Happy days!
